Travel drive/hoisting balance valve design is intended to reduce the risk of overspeeding and cavitation in axial piston motors within open circuits; if the inlet pressure drops, the balance valve spool throttles the return oil flow and brakes the motor until the inlet pressure recovers to approximately 2 MPa.
